PTFA

welcome from the ptfa
St Andrew's PTFA is a registered charity made up of, and supported by, parents, carers, teachers and friends of St Andrew's Infant School, so that includes you!

Our PTFA exists to raise funds for the benefit of all our children at the school, to enhance and complement their learning and education, and to provide additional tools and facilities over and above those provided by the Local Education Authority. We aim to do this by organising events throughout the school year which are fun, encourage a community spirit amongst all our families, and provide social entertainment for the children and parents alike.

Anyone connected to the school can attend the AGM or PTFA meetings, which are held throughout the school year, and we welcome new faces at any time. The PTFA works to encourage closer links between home and school and each year group has at least two class reps. They help to share information between the PTFA, the school and the class, and organise volunteers for each event. We hope that every family will do what they can to volunteer and support the school at some point throughout the year.

However big or small a role you'd like to play, we welcome all participation – from baking cakes, manning stalls, coming up with new fundraising ideas, going shopping for supplies or just shouting announcements in the playground - there's always room for more volunteers! Everything that we do is for the benefit of all our children and all the money we raise goes towards making our school the special place that it is.

For more information, any questions, or if you have any great fundraising ideas please email ptfa@standrewsptfa.org. We would love to hear from you.

We organise many events throughout the year for parents and children including: Christmas and Spring fairs, Quiz nights, Sponsored bounce, clothing donations, playground sales, discos and more.

Thank you to all the local, and not so local, businesses that have supported our fundraising in the past, giving generously in either their products or time. Whether it’s gift vouchers to auction, items to raffle, a donation of discounted products or bouncy castle hire, we couldn’t hold our events and raise the fabulous amounts of money we do without your help. Full list of recent companies at the bottom of the page.

The money we raise all goes towards making our school the special place that it is, and allows us to make both small, and big purchases, to make the learning environment as happy and fun as it can be.

Our “What we have funded” image shows what we were able to purchase for the school throughout the 2023-24 academic year.

In the past we have also purchased phonics reading scheme books, creative workshops, animal sanctuary visits, a PA system, event shelters, sound clouds in the hall, and the outdoor awning giving a sheltered outdoor learning space for all weathers.

Our biggest single fundraiser of the year is The Farnham Charity Bike Ride.

This event was originally set up by some St Andrew’s parents in 2008 and has been running for the past 16 years. St Andrew’s PTFA has organised the event alongside the Round Table and in 2024 they passed the baton to the Farnham Hedgehogs who we are very proud to have formed a new partnership with. This change saw the event move to a new date in September, but was just as brilliant an event as before and raised £6000 for the school - in just one day! The event also supports other local and national charities.

St Andrew’s always have an entry in the annual town carnival and the PTFA help out in putting together the school’s float. The St Andrew’s team have been very successful over the past few years, winning the Gold Award Best School Entry in 2024. We are always looking for parents to get involved in creating props and costumes for what is another great event in the school calendar.

We are very lucky at St Andrew’s to be located in a really beautiful spot right next to St Andrew’s church. We have some lovely raised beds in our playground, which with the help of the children and teachers, we plant up every year with different seasonal plants helping to make the playground a lovely space for the children to be playing and learning in.

Every year the school enters different categories in the the ‘Farnham In Bloom’ competition and often wins prizes – this year we won Gold the highly sort after Tallest Sunflower award! We’re always looking for more people to help keep the school outdoor space looking beautiful, please let us know if you would like to get involved.

Thank you to all these companies for their generosity in supporting our fundraising.
